The Face Off: Micellar Water

IMG_2525

Hi everyone!

A second post from me today! In this one I am comparing two micellar waters in a segment I’m calling ‘The Face Off’.  On one hand I have the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Eau Micellaire and on the other the famous Bioderma Micellar Solution H2O.

La Roche-Posay is the skincare brand I grew up with. My first ever skincare steps were taken in the limited world of La Roche-Posay. Since my first baby steps, I have learned more and experienced more, but I’ve always loved this make-up remover. I sprits a bit on a cotton pad and sweep it over my face to remove most of my make-up before going in with a cleanser.

During the last 4 months I have lived in France for my studies and whilst there I couldn’t not try out the immer famous Bioderma. After hearing tons of YouTubers and Bloggers rave about this product I needed to try it for myself! Just like I do with the La Roche-Posay formula I use a cotton pad with it.

I must say that both micellar waters are very similar. The La Roche-Posay water is part of the range for greasy and sensitive skin, so good for acne prone skin. The Bioderma water is part of the sensitive range, not specifically aimed at acne skin. However, I do not experience a difference in the amount of pimples. If there is one “big” difference it is that the Bioderma micellar water is better to remove eye make-up. Even though I like to use an oilier make-up remover for my mascara, I could only bring my Bioderma when space is limited. Sadly, it is not available as easily as the La Roche-Posay skincare line, so I find it isn’t really worth the extra effort.

Have you tried any of these micellar waters? Do you experience a difference?

If you have other suggestions for me to try, I am always interested for your recommendations!

  1. Great post! I haven’t tried either of these brands for micellar water. I have for Embryolisse and Garnier. I like the Embryolisse and wouldn’t mind facing that off with Bioderma, which is on my wish list at the moment! 🙂 x
